Team Ousts Head Coach, Moves To North Dakota

2003 KodiaksIn 2002, after finishing the season at (6-7), the Grant County Graphites have fired the General Manager, ousted the head coach, sank the team bus into Lake Carlos, burned down Hazard Stadium, executed the towel boy, and sold the entire franchise to a guy from North Dakota.

Former owner Steve Osborn was quoted as saying;

“I never really liked ’em anyway.”

The new owner (who simply goes by the name ‘Big John’) has spent untold dollars constructing a brand new stadium near Chahinkapa Zoo in Wahpeton, ND. The Zoo is home to over 50 species of animals and birds in a colorful environment of natural displays. Grandpa’s Petting Zoo offers children a chance to have “hands on” experience with an opportunity to feed domesticated farm animals, and is right next door to Prairie Rose Carousel, which is an exquisitely restored 1926 Spillman carousel. Twenty handcrafted wooden horses, two chariots, and an enchanting calliope are a fun filled reminder of happy childhood memories. … but I digress.. what was I talking about again? Oh, yes the move.

Bart the BearThe team has been renamed the Dakota Kodiaks and the new owner ‘Big John’, had this to say’

“At first I wanted nothing to do with the K.O.B.O.Z. league because I had heard that is was impossible to get into now, kinda like getting a McDonalds franchise. Anywho, the former team had a slump and I am here to bring them to glory. I have spared no expense and have invested over $2.95 in a new team colors and logos. We even hired that bear that was in that movie ‘The Edge’ to pose for the header at the top of this page. He wasn’t cheap mind you, but I wanted to get off on the right foot.”
