Drafting a Green Bay Packer higher than round 9 fails to help Blizzard

header2003blizzardAfter crushing the almost unstoppable Mauraders (57-40) in one of the highest scoring KOBOZ playoff games of all time, the Barnesville Blizzard came up short in 2002. The Blizzard failed to stop the Rebels who went on to claim the American Grey Cup Championship in 2002.

blizz_longdayforfarve2002“No one told me they had blasters!” said Owner & General Manager Casey Ehlert.

“Many people said that drafting Bret Farve was daft… A lot of other owners are still skeptical of that move,” Said Ehlert.
(And rightly so. Why in the h$%# would you want a Packer on your team -Ed.)

This shocking turn of drafting events happened after the team moved from Pelican Rapids to Barnesville after the “Beer & Shiny Bead Incident of 2002”.

On an upbeat note, the Blizzard finished the regular season 8-5 (24-15 lifetime) and are the only team in the league to never have a losing season. The Blizzard are now 1-1 in playoff victories under their new GM and are setting their sights higher still in 2003.

“I plan on even more surprising moves for this year,” said Ehlert.
